TRIPTYCH INFORMATION
Triptych explores the lived experience of Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), a rare form of dementia primarily affecting speech and language.

Triptych has been created through a collaboration between Dr Chris Hardy, auditory neuroscientist and dementia researcher at UCL, and visual artist William Lindley. The project is part of the UCL Trellis Arbor programme.
Triptych is an evolving work and engagement and participation are central to the project. People living with PPA, alongside family members and carers, contributed through group and one-to-one workshops. Participants were invited to share their experiences via audio testimony and drawing which have been incorporated into the installation. The version presented at the UCL Trellis Arbor Showcase incorporates contributions from a group supported by the charity Dyscover, which is led by Speech and Language Therapists. The participants drawings can be seen by clicking below:

There are three main forms of PPA – nonfluent/agrammatic, logopenic, and semantic – all caused by damage to brain networks that support speech and language, a tripartite taxonomy reflected in the title of the work. Information about PPA can be accessed here.
